Artists-in-Residence

The Midwest Trust Center welcomes the Opus 76 Quartet as the first-ever digital artists-in-residence.

Making classical music fun

Known for their entertaining and energetic interpretations of the classics, the Opus 76 Quartet has been called “Kansas City’s gem of a quartet” by The Kansas City Star. In 2020, the quartet released the live album, “Beethoven: The Complete String Quartets,” which included Beethoven’s 18 string quartets, in celebration of the composer’s 250th anniversary.

In 2020, the quartet gave master classes at the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music, Missouri State and Missouri Western State University. In 2019, they were invited to perform at the Ad Astra Music Festival in Russell, Kansas. The ensemble is coached by Károly Schranz, the recently retired founding member of the Takács Quartet.

“We have a lot of respect for Opus 76’s talent and training,” says Emily Behrmann, Midwest Trust Center General Manager. “This is the first time we’ve partnered with a local arts organization in digital format. We’re excited to support them with the resources we have at 赌钱app可以微信提现 and the Midwest Trust Center.”

Mentoring the next generation

As part of this inaugural series and the Opus 76 Quartet Sunrise Programme, the Quartet auditioned and chose a youth string quartet who occasionally performs alongside them. This mentoring initiative provides four talented young musicians – high school age or younger – with free coaching, mentoring and performing opportunities.
